Account Executive

Role Overview

The Account Executive will drive new revenue by identifying, qualifying, and closing opportunities across mid-market and enterprise segments. You will represent a highly technical product with both developer and business stakeholders, helping prospects understand how Directus transforms data infrastructure and accelerates digital delivery. The role increasingly involves conversations where AI initiatives depend on high-quality, well-governed data. You won't be selling LLMs or LLM wrappers, but you will definietly help customers understand how Directus becomes the foundational layer powering their AI projects.

What You'll Do

  • Own the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing.
  • Prospecting and outbound activities, including targeted outreach, multi-channel sequencing, and building relationships with key stakeholders early in the cycle.
  • Manage a pipeline across multiple industries, engaging technical, product, and business audiences.
  • Conduct discovery to understand customer problems, including data and content workflows, developer bottlenecks, and emerging AI-related needs.
  • Deliver product demos and value-based presentations tailored to stakeholder roles.
  • Collaborate with Sales Engineering, Product, Marketing and Customer Success to ensure a smooth evaluation and onboarding experience.
  • Accurately forecast and maintain CRM hygiene.
  • Contribute to our go-to-market learning loop, sharing insights from the field to improve messaging, enablement, and product direction.

What We're Looking For

  • 3–6 years of experience in SaaS sales with a consistent track record of meeting or exceeding quota.
  • Ability to translate technical capabilities into business value for both developers and non-technical buyers.
  • Strong discovery skills, with the ability to map customer pain points across data, workflow, and governance.
  • Comfortable selling in cycles involving data infrastructure, APIs, integrations, and platform adoption.
  • Demonstrated appetite for outbound work: cold calling, cold messaging, in-person event outreach and networking, and proactive pipeline generation.
  • Familiarity with how companies structure modern data stacks and the role of clean, structured data in AI projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice to Have

  • Experience selling open-source platforms, developer tools, or data-focused products.
  • Familiarity with tools like HubSpot and Notion to stay aligned with GTM and cross-team collaboration.
