Leap Week is back! For three days in March, we ran nine live sessions on what software looks like when the interface isn't the differentiator anymore.
From a keynote on the shifting role of the UI, to partner sessions with Railway, Clay, and Firecrawl, to a conversation on AI in the enterprise with HelloFresh and Gather.dev, it was a packed week.
Here's what happened:
Highlights:
- Ben discussed the shifting role of the interface in software. With AI changing how frontends are built and consumed, Ben made the case for where the real value lives when the UI is no longer the differentiator.
- Bryant, John and Matt raced against each other to build the best frontend on top of Directus in real time, showing just how fast you can go from nothing to a working interface when your data layer is solid.
- Ben was joined by Holger Hammel, VP Engineering at HelloFresh and Peter Bell, Founder, CTO, Head of AI at Gather.dev to discuss AI in the Enterprise.
- Lindsey and Mahmoud Abdelwahab, Senior DevRel Engineer at Railway built a full production application from scratch and deployed it live, walking through every step from zero infrastructure to a running app using Railway and Directus.
- Bryant and Leonardo Grigorio, DevRel Engineer at Firecrawl built a live pipeline that pulls structured data from anywhere on the web and pushes it directly into Directus using Flows, turning a web scraping session into a deep dive on what Flows can actually do.
- Matt and Mohak Desai, Growth Strategy at Clay, built hyper-personalized landing pages for scale.
- Beth announced a new community program, Directus Builders, for Directus users who want to contribute to the community, share technical insights, and get support for their own community initiatives, within a network of people solving real problems with the platform.
- Rijk and James took a deep-dive look at what's shipping now, what's coming next, and where Directus is heading as a product.
