What's New In Directus 10.1By Kevin Lewis on May 12, 2023
Hey there, folks! I'm thrilled to be your tour guide today, leading you through the awe-inspiring landscape of Directus 10.1. Our lead maintainer, Rijk, recently gave us the rundown in a video, and now we're here to dissect it all, text-style.
So buckle up, because we're about to dive into a sea of over 70 new features, improvements, bug fixes, and optimizations. No lifejackets required, I promise.
From Cloud to Core: Extensions Take the Stage
Our journey begins with the newly released extensions, previously exclusive to Directus Cloud, now making their debut in Directus Core.
- The panel bundle for insights is a powerful tool for data visualization, offering a bar chart, line chart, and a versatile pie chart.
- The Kanban view extension is here to streamline your project management, transforming your drop-down fields into an organized board of individual columns.
- Finally, meet the new block editor interface, a Notion-style interface offering an efficient editing experience.
File Picker Drawer: Minor Change, Major Impact
The next leg of our journey takes us to the file picker drawer, which has been thoughtfully improved to make your navigation smoother and more efficient.
Pressure-Based Rate Limiter: An Intelligent Addition to the API
To help manage server load more effectively, we've introduced a new rate limiter type in the API that measures server pressure.
ESM: Now the Default for API Extension Bundles
We're also excited to announce that in 10.1, we've made ESM the default for API extension bundles, ensuring greater compatibility with other libraries in the node ecosystem.
A Big Thank You to Our Community
As we wrap up, we want to express our sincere gratitude to our community. Their significant contributions to this release have truly made it special.
Directus 10.1 is now available on MPM and Docker Hub, and will be live on Directus Cloud in the next few days.
We're excited for you to explore these updates and look forward to bringing you more enhancements soon. Until then, happy data managing!
